oh california. what can i say to you? state of alcatrez (spelling?- it's midnight, i'm not googling it) and the golden gate bridge and fisherman's wharf and cable cars and wonderful hills that make your ears pop as you drive up into them (as all others do but, yeah).
i'm not going to say much right now because it is late (even if it is only 9-something here, california, i'm not used to your time zone yet).
i will say this: the first day of the HEAT conference is over and i am overwhelmed with information and thoughts and emotions. a former senator and a current mayor and tons of law enforcement and directors of ngos from all over california and the nation were in attendance. there was poetry and videos and the sharing of personal testimonies from survivors. it was a lot to take in. it will be a lot to process.
we've made some neat connections here already; we've been tipped off to some other places we can check out so, so far so good.
good night now, readers.
