this is the weekend.

this is my last weekend home.  i will be on the road to richmond sunday.

technically, my research begins today, which is alright because i will be doing research-oriented calls today again, so it should count.  i will also start searching for some literature to begin reading.  that sounds like a good first day effort.

a couple of exciting things:  (a) i was nominated for a scholarship at my university.  the good news?  possible money!  the bad news: so much work.  i'm not complaining!  it's simply a reality.  resumes and letters can be so intimidating.  i need to make some calls about this as well.

(b) i got some more diy thrift store deals.  i got a really neat rustic/ish corkboard i think i'll use as an inspiration board.  i'll post a picture later.

(c) i bought my first personal travel luggage suitcase!  that sounds like a lot to say to name one item.  i don't know travel lingo.  it's a suitcase.  i got a great deal, but my dad says it's too big and it'll cost me like $50 bucks to take on a plane.  this is sad news, and it may result in my parting from my lovely bag.  we'll see.

today is beautiful; i feel very good.  i have a lot of shortcomings.  there is a lot i would like to see myself change about myself.  i could use some more discipline in various areas.  but i'm a work in progress and right now i just, think that's alright.

in catechism the other night, my family learned about redemption.  how do we take part in the redemption Christ bought us? the question was.  the answer:  we take part in the redemption Christ bought for us when the Holy Spirit effectively applies it to us.

you know what i love about that?  we take part by not taking part.  we take part in what Christ did because of what the Holy Spirit does in us, not what we do.  that's really encouraging.  because i just don't think i could do anything that right, myself.  and that isn't a slight of myself.  that's just how it is.
