at seven a.m. sharp this morning addie and i woke up and looked over at each other. she was smiling and i gave a thumbs up. we had agreed the day before that we would go running this morning. so we jumped off of the air mattress (wedged between the two beds of our roommates) and got dressed.
the air was so clear and we laughed as we drove to the little island that runs along the river. i turned on my nike+ so i can later send my dad the proof that i had run such-and-such many miles. after the first mile i have to say i was having a bit of a hard time with the breathing thing so i let addie run ahead of me and i just walked for a while. the loop we ran/walked was mostly a canopy of trees standing straight and tall all around, wound in green vines and leaves. there was a biker, a man with his dogs and another runner out there as well.
what a peace.
i was disappointed that i couldn't run for longer but it was the first time in a while, so now i give myself a little grace. it will get better. you can't just get up one day and say "i'm going to run five miles" if you haven't even run at all in months. (i ended up totally a little over 2 miles. good enough for me!)
song of the morning: come thou fount -- from the friday night lights album
scripture of the morning: 1 & 2 thessalonians
i'll leave you what i wrote in my journal today, because it is simple and i thought of putting it on here when i wrote it:
Dear Lord,
How blessed am I to be here? Under an overcast sky I am overjoyed and I know it's Your spirit singing inside of me.
The weakness of my mind is the door for You to come through and boast Your strength. Everyday is a spiritual struggle but You are with me. And nothing is sweeter than to know that You see.

Love this prayer! I can so relate and I'll be using it. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso love morning runs!
All the best with this week,
